National Day Parade 2016
Taking part in this year's National Day Parade is a memorable moment for me as well as for the other 29 marching contingents. The training for the National Day Parade began much more earlier than the 9th of August. It began with a selection for the best 60 of the 90 cadets that are chosen by their OC to be part of the marching contingent. I can consider my self lucky to be part of the top 60. I was unfortunately sick on that day but I continue to join in the selections. For this year's parade, there was no march past but there was an Onward March where we would be marching on a designated spot before waving our flags and head off the stadium to our holding area. Training for the parade began on the 28th May onward at Nee Soon Camp and the Sports Hub. Training was tough but memorable. The contingent got better and bonded more day by day. The CIs/SCIs, Trainers and Ambassadors are really fun to talk with. My contingent mates are confident that trainings, our welfare and admin matters will be run smoothly when they are around. During the Sport Hub trainings, I managed to march out for a Combined Rehearsal 1, NE Show 1, Preview 1 & 2 and the actual Parade. The atmosphere of the people present in the Sports Hub was amazing especially during the 9th August. Hundreds of people watching in the Sports Hub, Thousands maybe Millions thought the TV. But the most memorable moment during my NDP journey was my contingent winning the Cheer Competition for Row B ( Uniformed Groups Contingent). To be the only Queenswayan NPCC cadet to be marching in the NPCC contingent of the National Day Parade is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me throughout my 3 years in Queensway NPCC.
