X-challenge 2014

12 cadets had volunteered to participate in X-challenge which was organized by the Home Team Academy. This is the first time HQ organized this meaningful competition which requires much teamwork and endurance. Even though the training was tough but we definitely had a great time. Not just us who are the ones sacrificing our precious time to stay back in school for the training, our Cadet Inspectors as well as our fellow teacher officers specially came down to help out and discuss about the competition, which we are really grateful for.
  • X-escape room: A series of challenges designed to test the NPCC knowledge in the form of a quiz.
  • X-ercise: A challenge that is split into two parts. In the first part, each cadet has to perform a set of the following exercises: Push-ups, Jumping-Jacks, Burpees, Sit-ups and Flutter kicks. For the second part, three cadets are supposed to carry the other two cadets who are acting as a wheelbarrow over a distance of 20 metres.
  • X-craft: Campcraft skills are assessed as the team is tasked to build a goalpost with limited resources provided.
  • X-web: A team’s communication and teamwork skills are crucial in ensuring success as the team is required to navigate a twine maze keeping their hands held together.

We had two teams of five, respectively the girls and the boys, to represent our school to take part in this year’s X-challenge which was held on 25th October. The first round of the competition, which the boys’ team participated in, starts in the morning and the second round of the competition which on the other hand, the girls’ team is participating in starts in the afternoon. Hence, the girls would have ample time to prepare. All of us were feeling very nervous and excited at the same time. As this is the first time we are participating in this competition, none of us had any experience; are all still a novice to this competition. The obstacles were rather tricky and tiring. We had to run from a station to the other which really puts our stamina to a test.

THE GIRLS GOT THE 12th POSITION.
THE BOYS GOT THE 35th POSITION.

Well done! Even though we didn't qualify into the finals, but we are still very proud our results as we worked hard for the challenge. In addition, we would like to express our gratitude and thank our teacher officers, cadet inspectors and cadets who spent their time to participate in the training as well as helping us out.
